Sweden, here we come!

Getting there

So our stop over in Singapore was done and dusted, my tummy was full of dumplings and we were about to board our next flight, on Fin Air.

Now I came up with a joke about Fin Air.

‘What airline do fish travel?’

‘Fin Air.’

Nearly there
Helsinki stopover

Come on that’s pretty funny – well my mum and dad thought so.

After a quick stop over in Helsinki we were off to our final destination for a few days – Sweden.

Stockholm

So we got to Stockholm and by that time we had been travelling for about 36 hours.  I got to say me and Dad were a little tired and a little crabby!

The next couple of days was off exploring Stockholm which is the capital of Sweden.  We did lots of walking, and yes I might have complained a little little bit.

Looking back on it though I saw some pretty awesome places.

My dad had lots of stories to tell me about when he was here as a kid doing an exchange. He told me about how much it has changed.

I really liked Stockholm, and look forward to going back one day.  Maybe for a bit longer so we can explore some more and let the jet lag wear off.

Train trip

We get to catch a train now up to my dad’s friends who live in Uddevalla.  I wish my brother was here because he loves trains and the trains in Sweden are pretty cool.

My dad informs me that we caught the X2000 tilt train to Herrljung and then the West traffik train to Uddevalla.  Dad had bought the tickets before we left so he had it all sorted.

He also mentioned that Sweden was the first country to use the tilt trains in the 80s . For those lovers of trains and train info check out this link about Sweden and their rail technology.

Did I mention my dad loves trains as well.

We caught a train from the Airport and it was cheap and the kids travelled free.  Not to mention it went so fast – faster than the ones back home.

So off I go again!

Stay tuned for what happens next.

The adventure begins – Sydney to Singapore

Off we go on our adventure
Early morning start

My dad and I are off on our adventure.

We had a very early start as we needed to be at the airport at about 7am.  We all stayed up in Sydney the night before so we didn’t hit traffic etc on the way up from home.

Here we are about to leave the hotel in Sydney and the sun is only just coming up.

Our – first stop – Sydney International Airport and the QANTAS lounge.

Qantas Lounge at Sydney International Airport
Breakfast with a view

My dad is a FIFO (fly in, fly out) worker, which means he is away for two weeks and home for two weeks.  I miss him when he is gone but one of the perks is he has stacks of Qantas Frequent Flyer points which means we can get great upgrades.

So for this first leg of the trip my Dad got us an upgrade to First Class – my mum was so jealous.

Here’s some of the snaps from the awesome flight!

So we made it to Singapore and I love Singapore.  We only had an 8 hour stop over but that was enough time to head to our favourite restaurant – Chinatown Seafood.  Yum!!  You can check out the TripAdviser post about this awesome restaurant.

I love their Pot Stickers (dumplings) and the Sechun Fried Rice!!  We even got a show while we ate of a Chinese Dragon.

We then had a few hours in Changi Airport before we left for Helsinki then Stockholm – and there is always lots to do and see at this airport.

I’m already having so much fun!!!

See you soon.

The Adventure Begins

I'm off on a BIG adventure
So excited to travel with my Dad and see the world

When my Dad was in high school he did an exchange program and went and lived in Sweden for a year.  He has kept in touch with his host family over the years and this year he has decided to take me for a visit so I can meet them all.

So my Dad and I are on an adventure that will take us to Sweden, London and Hong Kong.  He has planned all these awesome things for us to do, like go horse riding in Sweden, catch a (really fast train), see the Royal Mews (the Queen’s horses) and to top it off Disneyland in Hong Kong.

I am so excited – it will be an exciting two week adventure – just him and me.

I cannot imagine what it will be like to travel that far on an aeroplane.  With stopovers it will be 36 hours – which is the longest trip I have ever been on to get some place.

I’m excited to meet my Dad’s Swedish family and friends – hopefully they can teach me some Swedish and Dad said they will practice their English with me.

I’m most excited about going to the Royal Mews – the Queen’s Horses are bound to be beautiful and I love horses.

And Disneyland in Hong Kong – I wonder what it is going to be like.  I can’t possibly imagine.

So stay tuned for vlogging, pictures and blog posts about my adventures.

A bit about me!

Leila ready to party
This is me getting ready to party!

Hi, I’m Leila and I’m 8 years old.

I love watching YouTube videos and seeing what wonderful things people and kids are getting up to.  Most of the YouTube videos I watch, however are based in the USA or in Canada.

I though maybe people would like to see what happens on the other side of the planet – in Australia. Maybe Australia kids would like to see videos with an Australian accent – I hope so!

So I started experimenting with vlogging with my mum and we are starting to get a better at it (sort of).

So I have started my own YouTube channel, Instagram, Facebook and now my blog.

So this blog will be about my experiences both in Australia and when I go travelling.

This is the logo for my sites – hope you like it!

So sit back and enjoy and let me know what you are imagining and experiencing.

Its a big big world out there!
